Mary Hillier and Julia Margaret Cameron were two of the most successful collaborators in the history of nineteenth-century English art. During the 1860s and 1870s Hillier was Cameron's favorite and most responsive model. The body of work they made together was rediscovered in the 1970s. Its reputation is by now securely established.
