Winged Seahorse

Winged Seahorse

Figure of Faith

This group of 16th-century drawings is assigned merely to "Italian School" by the Morgan Library in New York where the pieces are now preserved. They are anonymous. The living memories and documentary traces that once distinguished each work from its neighbor and spoke for its singularity did not survive the centuries, even though the sheets themselves did.
