There is one oil painting in this cross section of work by R.B. Kitaj (1932-2007) culled from collections at the Tate. The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg (above) was painted in 1960 Overtly political subjects faded from Kitaj's repertoire toward the end of the 70s, roughly coinciding with the successful suffocation of progressive American politics under the homicidal goose-down pillows of resurgent capitalism.
