Polaroid @ 3 Weeks

This Polaroid popped up on my Mabel-screensaver at home, and it seemed like I'd never seen it before. Mabel was only three weeks old. She still held her legs in the partly bent position they remembered from the womb. She had not learned to smile. Her expressions alternated between the  frown of concentration (or digestion) seen above, and blank serenity. Who knows, though, how much work tiny babies are taking on as they accommodate their awareness to a world full of light where time perceptibly passes?
