The Late LF


It's five months ago already that Lucian Freud died. It still seems like a recent shock. I started thinking about him today after reading some random reference to Caroline Blackwood, one of his early wives. She later married Robert Lowell, our fine American poet. Freud's 1952 portrait of his then-wife can be admired above.

Below are a few pictures it pleased me to locate and look at again. I tried to pick some of the less famous ones, those that don't get reproduced so often.
